Ramadan is the 9th month according to the Hijri calendar and according to the belief of the Islamic religion, the verses of the Qur'an begin to be revealed to Muhammad and at the same time fasting and Taraweeh Prayer are started by the Muslims. Fasting in this month is one of the five pillars of Islam.
Date: Fri 1 Apr 2022 – Sun 1 May 2022
Importance: The month of solidarity, blessings, repentance and tolerance
Beginning: Last night of Shaban
Other name: Sultan of 11 Months
Importance of Ramadan
Fasting from dawn to dusk; It is obligatory (obligatory) for all Muslims except those who have acute or chronic illness, travel, the elderly, breastfeeding, pregnant, diabetic and underage puberty. The meal before dawn is called sahur, and the dinner that breaks the fast is called iftar.
It is believed that the spiritual rewards (good deeds) of fasting increase exponentially in Ramadan. According to this belief, Muslims abstain not only from food and drink, but also from tobacco products, sexual relations, and sinful acts; instead, they devote themselves more to prayer and reading the Qur'an.
One of the main features of Ramadan, which is accepted as the month of patience, worship, mercy, forgiveness and blessings by Muslims and which is welcomed with great enthusiasm and excitement, is that the Qur'an began to be revealed in this month and it is stated in verses and hadiths that it is better than a thousand months.
The Night of Power, in which the first verses of the Qur'an are revealed to Muslims, is in this month. Although it is not known what day it is, the 27th night of Ramadan is considered as the Night of Power. According to some Islamic scholars and hadiths, the Night of Power takes place in the last 10 days of Ramadan.
Happy Ramadan to all the Islamic world. May Allah accept your fasting.
